Local sources cited by Kivu Morning Post attributed the military operations to the FRN, which was reportedly confronting these armed groups near Virunga National Park.

FDLR elements were reportedly seen in Kanyatsi, Mushababwe, Kivumu and Kamena, according to the same sources. Commercial activities and traffic continued in other areas, and no incident directly involving civilians had been reported at the time of publication.
