Ethiopia’s Prosperity Party and the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front sign an agreement to strengthen relations and institutional cooperation. The agreement provides for exchanges of experience on governance, leadership training and national development, according to Fanamc.
Ethiopia’s Prosperity Party and ZANU-PF, the ruling party in Zimbabwe, signed a memorandum of understanding on 7 November to strengthen their relations and institutional cooperation. The ceremony was held at the Adwa Victory Memorial in Addis Ababa, on the sidelines of the Second African Political Parties Summit, according to Fanamc.
The agreement provides for exchanges of experience and cooperation in governance, leadership training, institutional capacity building and national development. It will also enable the two parties to identify areas of common interest and support their respective development agendas, according to Fanamc.
The signing is in line with the objectives of the African Political Parties Initiative (APPI), which seeks to strengthen the role of political parties in public policy-making, good governance, leadership development and economic transformation beyond electoral periods, according to Fanamc.
The agreement comes on the same day that Ethiopia presented Medemer as a model for African cooperation, on 7 November. It also follows discussions on strengthening cooperation between Ethiopia and other African countries, notably with Nigeria on 13 October.
