At least 34 Ethiopian Orthodox Christians were killed on Thursday 5 November 2026 by armed men in Endato village, Robe district, Oromia, bringing the death toll to at least 94 in less than three weeks. The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission attributed previous attacks to the Oromo Liberation Army, according to Meseret Media.

At least 34 Ethiopian Orthodox Christians were killed on Thursday in an attack by armed men in Endato village, in Robe district, Oromia, bringing to at least 94 the number of worshippers killed in attacks in less than three weeks, according to local media. Several people were also injured and shops and other property were damaged. Members of the security forces were caught up in the violence as they tried to restore order, Meseret Media reports.

The previous attacks, on 20 and 24 October in the districts of Merti and Shirka, had killed at least 60 Orthodox Christians, according to the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. The Holy Synod of the Church condemned the killings on 26 October and called for urgent measures to protect worshippers.

The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission on Wednesday attributed the previous attacks to the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), an armed group active in Oromia. The authorities launched a security operation after the October violence and arrested nearly 70 suspects linked to the attacks.

The new attack comes after several deadly incidents already reported in Oromia, including more than 60 Christians killed in attacks in Ethiopia and more than 60 Christians killed and 20 houses burned in Oromia.
