Egyptian law sets three conditions for becoming a teacher
By the AFREEQUE newsroom, based on Youm7
Egypt’s Education Law sets three conditions for holding a teaching position. Article 72 notably refers to requirements applicable to the state’s civil-service jobs and regulates access to teaching posts, according to provisions cited by the daily Al-Youm al-Sabea.
Egypt’s Education Law requires candidates for teaching positions to be Egyptian nationals or citizens of a country that grants Egyptians reciprocal treatment in access to public-sector jobs. This rule is set out in Article 72 of the Education Law.
Candidates must also hold an advanced teaching qualification appropriate to the position, or a suitable higher-education diploma supplemented by a teaching qualification certificate. The requirements for this qualification are set by the Egyptian Minister of Education. However, the minister may authorise the recruitment of foreign teachers under the rules set out in the law’s implementing regulations.
