A briefing on tackling disinformation about Ebola brought journalists together on Wednesday 4 November 2026 in Kisangani, in Tshopo province. Dr Blaise Asumani, head of the Infodemic Management Unit of the Incident Management System, urged them to share reliable information and guide the public towards good practices, according to Kis24info.
Four health officials presented an overview of Ebola, communication during health emergencies, and mechanisms for preventing and managing infodemics. Discussions also addressed the stigmatisation of survivors, with Dr Asumani calling on the media to promote solidarity with them, support and social reintegration, according to Kis24info.
The briefing follows the alert issued on 2 November by Journalists in Danger about disinformation during the Ebola outbreak. It is part of the response to the new transmission chain reported in Mandima, announced on 23 October 2026.
