DR Congo's deputy prime minister in charge of the public service, modernisation of the administration and innovation in the public service, Jean-Pierre Lihau Ebua, opened work in Kinshasa on Friday 6 November 2026 of the joint government-union commission, Le Potentiel reports. The two-day meeting, scheduled for 6 to 7 November, is to produce a new pay policy for state employees, taking into account the recommendations of experts from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
The draft decree establishing this policy will be presented to the Council of Ministers this Friday, Jean-Pierre Lihau said. The reform is to reduce pay gaps between administrations, correct disparities between Kinshasa and the provinces and harmonise remuneration between state bodies. "We are giving birth to hope in the hearts of many compatriots, many Congolese who serve the state without fair pay," he said.ll
