Chad forecasts growth in its gross domestic product of 7.3% in 2027, against 6% in 2026, according to the draft finance bill adopted at the Council of Ministers and reported by the Journal du Tchad. The gap between the two years reaches 1.3 percentage points.
Investment in infrastructure is the main lever chosen, to improve production conditions, facilitate trade and strengthen connectivity between the country's regions. Agriculture and livestock, which weigh heavily in Chad's economy and in people's livelihoods, are also expected to contribute to this performance.
The government is also counting on industrial processing. Developing local capacity to process raw materials could create added value, boost employment and gradually reduce dependence on imports. Chad also remains an oil producer, with 7.9 million tonnes expected in 2026 according to the oil forecasts published in early October.
