Chad and Russia want to create a parliamentary friendship group to structure their institutional dialogue. The project was discussed in Moscow by Chadian MP Zakaria Mahamat Saleh and Konstantin Kosachev, first deputy chairman of the Council of the Federation of Russia, according to Alwihda Info, citing Chadian diplomacy.

The discussions also covered water, livestock and agriculture. The Russian side said it was ready to develop economic exchanges with N’Djamena, while a cultural centre dedicated to learning Russian is due to open soon in the Chadian capital.

The initiative follows efforts to increase Russian investment in Chad, advocated on 30 October by the Chadian Chamber of Commerce, and comes the day after the resumption of dialogue between Chad and Niger in Moscow on 31 October.
