Simon Harmer dismissed Travis Head and then Marnus Labuschagne in the same innings, leaving Australia on 90 for 2 at lunch on the second day. South Africa had been bowled out for 329 the previous day in the Test at Cape Town, reports TimesLIVE.

South African spinner Simon Harmer took two wickets in his first over of the second morning of the third cricket Test between South Africa and Australia, at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town. He dismissed Travis Head, bowled off the bottom edge of his bat, then Marnus Labuschagne, caught by Aiden Markram at slip, leaving Australia on 90/2 at lunch, according to TimesLIVE.

Matt Renshaw, back at the top of the order after Nic Maddinson’s dismissal, was on 27 runs and Cameron Green on 17 in his first match of the series. Renshaw and Head had taken Australia to 51/0 after an hour, before South African captain Temba Bavuma brought Harmer into the attack.

South Africa had been bowled out for 329 on the first day. The Australian openers initially took advantage of the favourable conditions, despite the efforts of bowlers Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen. Harmer then reproduced the role played by Australian spinner Nathan Lyon on the first day by causing Australia’s first breakthrough.
