The Central African political movement I LEKE KÖDÖRÖ – LES BÂTISSEURS has reacted to a new rise in fuel prices, which is weighing on people’s purchasing power. In its 24 October 2026 statement, the movement also condemned the continuing increase in the cost of living.
The Central African political movement I Léké Ködörö – Les Bâtisseurs (ILK-LB) condemned the new rise in fuel prices, which it said was worsening the decline in purchasing power and the cost of living. The movement made the criticism in a statement published on 24 October, Oubangui Médias reports.
ILK-LB spoke out after several positions were taken in the Central African Republic over rising fuel prices. The political movement called for the difficulties faced by the population to be taken into account, as prices had already been increased after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, according to Oubangui Médias.
The condemnation came ten days after President Faustin-Archange Touadéra justified the increase, on 15 October, and six days after the price rise was announced on 18 October. It also followed the call for dialogue from the Central African Human Rights Observatory, published on 24 October.
