Five civilians were killed in a night-time attack in Kabizo, in Rutshuru territory, North Kivu, according to local administrator Euphrem Kabasha. He accused the CMC Wazalendo and the FDLR, and said the Congolese Revolutionary Army intervened to prevent further abuses.

At least five civilians were killed in an attack at about 1.30 am on the night of 25 to 26 October in Kabizo, in Rutshuru territory, North Kivu. Euphrem Kabasha, the administrator of Rutshuru territory, attributed the attack to the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) and the Nyatura CMC FDP, according to Kivumorningpost.

Euphrem Kabasha said the Congolese Revolutionary Army (CRA) intervened quickly to prevent the armed groups from continuing their abuses. He condemned the attack and said the territorial administration intended to restore order in Kabizo quickly. The CRA is continuing an operation to dismantle the network, he added.

The attack comes amid fighting between the National Resistance Front (NRF) and the Congolese army in Gipimo, North Kivu, reported on 26 October by Kivumorningpost. A UN report accusing M23 of targeting civilians in the province was also published on 2 October, according to a UN report on M23.
