Yacine A., found guilty of killing Armale Deodade Aïvohozin, was sentenced to 28 years in prison on 5 November 2026. The trial took place after the Beninese woman's body was found in a freezer in Grigny, according to Le Parisien.
Yacine A., 50, was sentenced on Thursday 5 November 2026 to 28 years in prison for the murder of his former partner Armale Deodade Aïvohozin, a 44-year-old Beninese woman whose body had been found in a freezer in Grigny. The sentence includes a two-thirds security period and a ban on French territory upon his release from prison, reports Le Parisien.
During the four days of proceedings, Yacine A. continued to maintain that the death was accidental. He admitted to a first shot that allegedly struck the victim in the chest during a struggle, but attributed the second, to the head, to a man identified as Rachid A. Ballistic examinations nevertheless established that both projectiles came from similar shots fired at point-blank range, according to evidence presented at the trial.
The prosecution had sought 30 years in prison and argued that the murder was motivated by jealousy and possessiveness. Several relatives said that Deo was considering leaving her partner. Her body was discovered on 22 July 2023 in Yacine A.'s flat, three days after her presumed death, wrapped in particular in bin bags and placed in a large freezer.
Before the verdict, the accused asked the victim's relatives for forgiveness. Deo's three sons discovered her relationship with Yacine A. after her disappearance: her eldest son Mohamed had dropped her off in Grigny the previous day, believing she was going to meet a friend, before returning to the scene after hearing nothing from her and meeting her former partner.
