Air Mauritius is reassessing its order for three Airbus A350-900s and seeking up to five medium-haul aircraft as part of its Future-Fit Game Changer restructuring plan, Defimedia reports. The airline wants to adapt its fleet to the needs and profitability of its routes following a 10-year analysis of its network by consultancy Seabury Aviation Partners.
The three additional A350-900s are currently scheduled for delivery in December 2026, the first quarter of 2028 and the last quarter of 2028, according to previously released schedules. A senior Air Mauritius source said the airline was “evaluating all possibilities”, without the deliveries having been officially postponed or cancelled.
Air Mauritius is also considering acquiring Airbus A321neos, including the long-haul A321LR version, or Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. These planes could replace some wide-body aircraft on routes to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Kuala Lumpur and Mumbai, in order to increase frequencies and reduce operating costs. The airline currently operates 11 aircraft, including four A350-900s, two A330-900neos, one A330-200 and four ATR 72s.
