971 kilogrammes of cocaine seized at Morocco’s Tanger Med port

Moroccan police and customs officers have seized 971 kilogrammes of cocaine in a refrigerated container at the Tanger Med port, according to the General Directorate of National Security. The shipment, which left a Brazilian port bound for West Africa, was aboard a vessel flying a Latin American flag.

Moroccan police and customs officers have seized 971 kilogrammes of cocaine at the Tanger Med port in northern Morocco, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced. The drugs were concealed in a refrigerated container aboard a vessel flying the flag of a Latin American country.

Joint border checks established, according to the DGSN’s initial investigations, that the container had left a Brazilian port and was due to be transported to a West African port.

The seizure comes after Algerian police seized 69 kilogrammes of cocaine in Tamanrasset on 31 October, as reported in the cocaine seizure in Tamanrasset.
