In Daloa, 500 volunteer trainees have completed training in trades including masonry, electrical work and agropastoral activities, Ivory Coast’s Youth Minister Mamadou Touré announced. They are to continue learning for three months, and the ministry wants to connect them with companies working on major projects, according to Lintelligent d’Abidjan.
Five hundred young people have completed training in several trades at the Daloa Civic Service Centre in Ivory Coast. Mamadou Touré, the Minister for Youth Promotion, Professional Integration and Civic Service, called for better alignment between the training and the needs of the country’s major construction projects at the graduation ceremony for the second cohort on 23 October 2026, L’Intelligent d’Abidjan reports.
The trainees were trained notably in masonry, building electrical work, vehicle mechanics, metal construction, tiling and refrigeration and air conditioning. They are to continue their training for three months through internships, work placements or training with groups of artisans.
Mamadou Touré wants to connect the young people with companies working on infrastructure projects. He also called for the approach to become a national mechanism for professional integration. Ministers Kini Comoé Bernard, the cohort’s sponsor, Myss Belmonde Dogo and Jean-Louis Moulot encouraged the beneficiaries to persevere and make the most of their skills.
The initiative is part of efforts to bring vocational training closer to employers’ needs. On 25 October, Mamadou Touré had already advocated reserving jobs for trained young people in a call to provide them with opportunities.
