Ivorian minister Mamadou Touré urged young people to turn financial education into regular investment, including by saving, opening an account or joining a savings group. Nearly six in ten adults in Ivory Coast now have a financial account, he said at the ninth SEIP in Abidjan.
Ivory Coast’s Minister for the Promotion of Youth, Professional Integration and Civic Service, Mamadou Touré, on Thursday 22 October 2026 urged young people to invest regularly, whatever their income, to build up assets. He was speaking as patron of the ninth Savings, Investment and Wealth Fair (SEIP), held under the theme “Every great fortune begins with a first step”, according to the Ivorian Press Agency (AIP).
Mamadou Touré cited opening an account, joining a savings group and setting aside part of one’s income as possible first steps. Nearly six in ten adults in Ivory Coast now have a financial account, but access does not guarantee sound money management or sufficient understanding of saving, investment and credit, he noted. He urged young people to seek training and expert advice and to remain cautious before making any investment, according to AIP.
The fair’s general commissioner, Leticia N’Cho-Traoré, said the main challenge was now to turn knowledge gained at previous editions into concrete decisions. SEIP is organised by L’Agence in partnership with Ecobank, according to AIP.
