AGL Côte d’Ivoire and Japanese shipowner NYK Line launched their partnership with the M/V Neptune Leader’s call at the Port of Abidjan on 24 October. The vessel unloaded 139 vehicles in less than 24 hours, strengthening the capacity of Ivory Coast’s RoRo terminal, according to a statement sent to AIP.
The M/V Neptune Leader, a roll-on/roll-off vessel, unloaded 139 vehicles at the Autonomous Port of Abidjan in less than 24 hours during its first call on 24 October. The operation marked the launch of a partnership between AGL Côte d’Ivoire, a logistics and maritime services provider, and Japanese shipowner NYK Line, according to a statement sent to the Ivorian Press Agency (AIP).
The 183-metre RoRo vessel — designed to load and unload vehicles and other wheeled equipment — was received at the RoRo terminal. AGL Côte d’Ivoire handled port formalities, vessel assistance and coordination between the parties, alongside TERRA’s teams.
AGL Côte d’Ivoire-Burkina Faso regional director Asta-Rosa Cissé said the first call demonstrated the teams’ ability to coordinate demanding maritime operations. NYK Line’s representative for sub-Saharan Africa, Kentaro Shimizu, described the vessel’s arrival as the launch of a new service by the shipowner in West Africa.
The latest port call follows Ivory Coast’s 17 October exercise on responding to maritime trafficking, in which the country took part to test its systems.
