Ivorian minister Mamadou Touré has asked local authorities and public works contractors to recruit young people trained in civic service centres. He wants these recruits included in major construction projects, through work placements or first jobs, according to AIP.
Ivory Coast’s Minister for Youth Promotion, Mamadou Touré, on 23 October 2026 in Daloa asked local authorities and companies holding public works contracts to prioritise recruiting young people trained in civic service centres and technical and vocational schools. He made the appeal during the graduation of the second cohort of volunteer trainees from the Daloa Civic Service Centre, according to the Ivorian Press Agency (AIP).
Mamadou Touré specifically mentioned electricians, painters and tilers, and proposed incorporating this link between public contracts, labour needs and training into government action. He also asked the Agence Emploi-Jeunes, the Civic Service Centre and officials from the Haut-Sassandra Regional Council to present the profiles of young people from the region to companies working on their construction sites, according to AIP.
The minister announced the forthcoming construction of 10 civic service centres in the country and called on prefects, sub-prefects and local elected officials to involve young people in community works. The approach follows the presentation of certificates to 500 young people on placement in Daloa on 13 September, and an appeal by Mamadou Touré to young people to invest on 22 October.
