The prosecution requested 24 months in prison and a firm fine of 2 million CFA francs against Burkinabè lawyer Ms Ini Esther Doli, who is being prosecuted for alleged defamation of Ouagadougou’s municipal police. The requests were presented on Wednesday 4 November before the Ouaga I Court of First Instance, according to the Burkina Information Agency, cited by Lefaso.net.
The case concerns Ms Ini Esther Doli’s Facebook posts about the eviction of occupants from the “Allah Ti Kouma” maquis. In them, the lawyer suggested that some people who took part in the eviction might be among her former or current clients. The defence called for her acquittal, while the municipal police, a civil party, requested one symbolic franc in damages, according to the AIB.
Ms Ini Esther Doli appeared before the same court on 30 September 2026, when it granted her provisional release. The hearing comes after the conviction of a trader in Ouagadougou for stealing 20 million CFA francs, handed down on 4 November in another court case.
