The partnership covers menstrual health, cervical cancer screening and digital solutions, among other areas, according to UNICEF representative in Ivory Coast Jean-François Basse.

Ivorian NGO Amani and the U-Report national coordination signed an agreement in Abidjan on Friday 30 October to improve adolescents’ and young people’s access to information and sexual and reproductive health services. The partnership is supported by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), according to Fraternité Matin.

Planned initiatives will focus in particular on menstrual health, the prevention and screening of cervical cancer, and digital support tools. The two organisations also intend to train U-Reporters and peer educators, raise community awareness and direct young people to appropriate services.

UNICEF’s Resident Representative in Ivory Coast, Jean-François Basse, said young people would be regarded as partners and agents of change. Amani president Sophie Tall said the agreement would help address sexual and reproductive health issues and break taboos.
