Aminata Sy, in Podor, and Mame Diarra, in Thiès, are believed to have been killed by their boyfriends, according to the Collectif des Féministes du Sénégal. The collective counts them among the 12th and 13th mediatized femicide victims since the beginning of the year and is calling for action against such violence, reports Senego.

Two women, Aminata Sy in Podor and Mame Diarra in Thiès, are believed to have been killed by their boyfriends in Senegal, according to the Collectif des Féministes au Sénégal, cited by Senego. Mame Diarra leaves behind a daughter, while Aminata Sy's boyfriend is wanted as part of the investigation into her death.

These two deaths bring to 12 and 13 the number of mediatized femicides recorded by the collective since the beginning of the year. It is calling for femicide to be recognised, women and girls to be protected, and preventive measures to be taken against violence linked to relationships of domination and control.

The case of Aminata Sy had already been reported on 25 October, with her boyfriend being sought as part of the investigation into her murder. The Collectif des Féministes au Sénégal now says the case is part of a series of two new mediatized femicides, including the death of Mame Diarra in Thiès.
