Nigeria’s NDC assigns 2027 campaign to Henry Dickson and Peter Obi

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has formed its national campaign council for the 2027 general elections, with Henry Seriake Dickson as chairman and presidential candidate Peter Obi as co-chairman. The party says the body will coordinate the campaign and mobilisation nationwide, according to a statement posted on its X account.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), a Nigerian political party, has appointed Senator Henry Dickson as chairman of its national campaign council for the 2027 general elections. Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, will be co-chairman, the NDC said in a statement posted on its X account on Sunday, Punch reports.

The council is to coordinate campaign activities nationwide and mobilise support around the party’s programme. The NDC’s national chairman and vice-presidential candidate, Senator Cleopas Zuwoghe, was appointed deputy chairman of the council, while Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso becomes deputy vice-chairman.

Ikenna Enekweizu, the NDC’s national secretary, is also part of the leadership team. Ibrahim Abdulkarim was appointed the council’s secretary and director-general of the campaign. The party called on its members and supporters to remain united ahead of the 2027 election.

The council’s formation comes after the NDC was accused of attempting to exclude candidates from the 2027 elections, as reported on 18 October in a case involving a candidate and her rivals.
