Togo’s Ministry Delegate in charge of Water and Sanitation received a seventh drilling rig in Lomé on Tuesday, acquired through Sara Group to help drill 231 boreholes. The machine, named “Hêzou”, can reach a depth of 450 metres, according to Icilomé.
The Sinotruk Howo 6×4 rig is equipped with a cabin for teams and will reinforce the six other machines already being used by the Directorate of Project Management. More than 4,000 Togolese localities still lack access to drinking water, five years before the government’s 2030 target, Icilomé reports.
Sara Group Deputy Director-General Hassan Maloum said the equipment complied with the specifications and could operate at great depth. The Minister Delegate in charge of Water and Sanitation, Séna Alipui, presented the acquisition as a means of supporting sustainable access to drinking water.
