Fighting between Somalis and Oromos has continued for three days in Moyale, an Ethiopian commercial town on the border with Kenya, Puntlandpost reports. The clashes are now taking place in the town, where Oromo fighters have positioned weapons in buildings while the two sides face each other on opposite sides of the roads.

Many residents have fled to Kenya to escape the violence. Ethiopia’s federal government and the administration of the Somali Region have not yet publicly responded, according to Puntlandpost.

The clashes follow assistance provided on 23 October by the Kenya Red Cross to 1,000 families fleeing Ethiopia, amid tensions also affecting the north of the country.
