The Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board, previously attached to the Rwanda Development Board, will operate as an independent entity. The Cabinet, chaired by Paul Kagame, approved its new structure on 26 October, according to the official statement, which also provides for cooperation with Raffles Family Office Limited to fund projects.
Rwanda’s Cabinet decided on 26 October 2026 to make the Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board (RMB), previously attached to the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), an independent entity, Panorama reports. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame, after approval of the agency’s staffing structure.
The same Cabinet approved the public accounts closing report for the 2025-2026 financial year, as well as arrangements for the 2027A agricultural season. Farmers were urged to use more improved seeds and fertiliser to increase production. The government also approved an agreement with Raffles Family Office Limited to seek funding for development projects and promote international investment.
The decision comes as the Rwandan government adopted a cooperation policy on 29 September aimed at reducing its dependence on aid, according to the previous report on Rwanda’s financial autonomy policy.
