Morocco’s Princess Lalla Asmaa and Jeannette Kagame, Rwanda’s First Lady, inaugurated in Kigali a hearing diagnosis and rehabilitation centre donated by the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, Le Matin reports. The facility brings together screening, examinations and rehabilitation, with equipment designed in particular to adjust cochlear implants and hearing aids.
The centre is intended to enable hearing disorders to be diagnosed in the first months of life, a crucial period for language acquisition. It brings together ENT doctors, audiologists, speech therapists and psychologists. During the visit, the two women also met four Rwandan children who had undergone surgery as part of the medical and humanitarian mission.
The opening is part of Morocco’s “Together, We Hear Better” programme, an international extension of the national Nasmaa campaign. Rwanda is now its 23rd partner country; the programme has provided care to nearly 500 patients in Africa, the MENA region and Latin America.
