South Africa captain Siya Kolisi paid tribute to former Sharks team-mate Hyron Andrews before his funeral scheduled for Saturday. Kolisi also welcomed the return of several Springboks playing in Japan to South African clubs, according to TimesLIVE, which reported the comments before the match against Italy.
Springboks captain Siya Kolisi paid tribute to his former Sharks team-mate Hyron Andrews, who died aged 31 last month at the Lions' hotel, ahead of his funeral scheduled for Saturday. “Hyron was an exceptional human being,” said Kolisi, who played with him at the Durban franchise, Reuters reports.
Kolisi also welcomed the return to South Africa of Malcolm Marx, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Manie Libbok and Kwagga Smith after their spells with Japanese clubs. According to the South African captain, their presence should strengthen local clubs and allow young players to develop alongside them as South Africa prepares for the 2027 World Cup.
The Springboks are due to face Italy in Turin on Saturday in the Nations Championship, followed by France and Ireland, before the competition finals. The South African team are coming off a 3-1 series win over New Zealand.
Siya Kolisi's tribute comes as South Africa remain unbeaten in the Nations Championship, a result published on 6 November.
