The collapse of a two-storey building under construction in Fadeyi, Lagos State, has left at least one person dead and three survivors, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA). The accident occurred at dawn on Friday on Akinola Street, near the Fadeyi bus stop, its permanent secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said.

Search operations were continuing to determine whether other people were trapped. Rescue teams heard moaning beneath the rubble and deployed an excavator. The three men rescued received pre-hospital care before being transferred to hospital, according to LASEMA.

The agency was working with the Lagos State fire service, the LASAMBUS ambulance service and the Nigerian police. The incident comes after another deadly building collapse in Lagos, reported on 23 October.
