Lagos State Police rescued three girls suspected of being victims of trafficking after intercepting a commercial motorcycle in Badagry, in south-western Nigeria. Nigerian police spokesperson Ani Iniedu announced the operation on Friday on his X account, Punch reports. The girls were travelling along the Owode Apa road; they were questioned and then taken into police care.

The case is being investigated by the state’s Criminal Investigation Department, in Panti, in Lagos’s Yaba district. Police are seeking the people suspected of arranging their transport.

In two other operations mentioned by Ani Iniedu, six people were arrested in Abuja on suspicion of armed robbery, extortion and homicide. Police and the Civilian Joint Task Force seized 11 phones, a laptop, weapons and intoxicating substances. One suspect is also implicated in a robbery and murder committed in June 2026, according to the spokesperson.

In Benin City, Edo State, police also arrested 52-year-old Kingsley Eghaghe, suspected of arms trafficking. The investigation was opened following intelligence and the lawful interception of a telephone conversation, Ani Iniedu said.
