Nicolas Jackson told Sky Sports about Ibrahim Mbaye’s role in Aston Villa’s 2-1 win against Manchester City, after the young Senegalese player came on and made a decisive contribution. The striker, who scored twice, said he congratulated Mbaye on his assist at his first touch of the ball.
Nicolas Jackson recounted to Sky Sport his exchange with his young Senegalese compatriot Ibrahim Mbaye after Mbaye provided the assist for Aston Villa’s second goal against Manchester City. “Bro, what was that?” the striker said, impressed by Mbaye’s introduction and his decisive first touch of the ball.
Jackson, who scored both goals in Aston Villa’s 2-1 win, said he ran towards Mbaye after his brace to show him how important his assist had been. He said the young Senegalese had changed the match after just a few seconds on the pitch. “Some players need 90 minutes to make a difference. Mbaye needed just one touch,” he said.
The goalscorer nevertheless refused to set his brace against the work of the player who supplied the pass. He said football was not just about individual performances and insisted the two players could now improve together. Aston Villa’s win against Manchester City had already been reported with Jackson’s brace.
