Aston Villa beat Manchester City 2-1 in the Premier League thanks to a brace from Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson, who scored in the sixth and 60th minutes. Erling Haaland equalised for Manchester City after half-time, but Villa held on until the final whistle, reports Punch.

Aston Villa beat Manchester City 2-1 in Birmingham on Saturday in the English Premier League, with two goals from Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson, reports Punch. Jackson opened the scoring in the sixth minute from a John McGinn pass, then scored the winner in the 60th minute, after Erling Haaland had equalised with a header in the 52nd minute from an Iliman Ndiaye cross.

The result ended Manchester City’s run of seven wins at the start of the league season and prevented the club from winning its first eight matches of the season. City, who were top of the table with 21 points before the match, had just beaten AEK Athens 5-1 in the Champions League. Aston Villa, 12th with eight points, have won their last three league matches against City, following 1-0 home and 2-1 away victories in October 2025 and May 2026 respectively.
