The Nigerien government accuses France of leading a “vast network of connivance” that allegedly supported the attempted destabilisation in Niamey on 28 and 29 August. The official accusation does not mention Chad, which had previously been implicated in an officer’s testimony, according to Tchadinfos.
The Nigerien government accuses the French authorities of having supported the attempted destabilisation that took place on the night of 28 to 29 August in Niamey, notably at Air Base 101. It says the operation had international ramifications, in a statement read out on Friday after the Council of Ministers meeting chaired by General Abdourahamane Tiani.
The Nigerien authorities portray the French government as the head of a “vast network of connivance” that allegedly encouraged and sustained the operation. However, they did not name Chad, which had been accused a few days earlier in a televised testimony by an officer. The attack on Air Base 101 had already been reported as a central episode in the attempted destabilisation.
