The Front uni and the International Solidarity Network with Guinea-Bissau accuse Senegalese mediation of passivity and call for measures to restore constitutional order. Their manifesto also implicates ECOWAS in the political crisis, according to Senenews.
The Front uni and the International Solidarity Network with Guinea-Bissau, two organisations bringing together around 15 groups, are challenging Senegal’s mediation in the Bissau-Guinean political crisis and calling for measures to restore constitutional order. In a manifesto published on 22 October, they denounced Dakar’s inaction and raised questions about ECOWAS’s responsibility, according to Senenews.
The organisations are asking ECOWAS’s mediation team to intervene with the military command in order to create the conditions for a return to democratic order, in accordance with the result of the November 2025 elections. They are also demanding the release of political prisoners and the restoration of political activities and fundamental freedoms. They accuse Senegalese mediation of complicity with Umaro Sissoco Embaló, the Bissau-Guinean president, and advocate mediation between political, military and social actors.
The challenge comes after ECOWAS backed Senegalese mediation in Guinea-Bissau on 9 October. The organisations had also called for, on 3 October, a civil-military pact in Guinea-Bissau.
