Russian authorities have arrested a minor suspected of preparing an attack on the Tsaritsyno museum-reserve in Moscow, following a security warning from the United States embassy. The young man allegedly posted a video on TikTok wearing tactical clothing and holding an object resembling an automatic weapon, according to the FSB, Russia’s domestic security service.
Investigators also allegedly discovered that he followed a neo-Nazi Telegram channel and searched online for massacres and terrorist acts. Replicas of air guns were allegedly found at his home, while several events were cancelled and security measures strengthened at the site, according to Russian state media.
The US embassy had already warned the Russian authorities on 7 March 2024 of a threat targeting large gatherings. Fifteen days later, the attack on Crocus City Hall killed more than 140 people.
