The Man Regional Blood Transfusion Centre (CRTS) collected about 12,500 blood units during the first 10 months of 2026, or 83% of its annual target of 15,000 donations. The figure was announced on Saturday 7 November by Tchimou Jérémi, representing the director general of the National Blood Transfusion Centre of Ivory Coast (CNTS-CI).
The collection comes after a reorganisation of the CRTS de Man’s territorial coverage, with the Guémon and Cavally regions now having their own blood transfusion facilities. In 2025, the centre collected 14,951 units, or 99.67% of its annual target, Tchimou Jérémi said.
The donations are used in particular to care for women in labour, children suffering from severe malaria-related anaemia, road accident victims and surgical patients. Tchimou Jérémi called on people in Tonkpi to increase their participation in blood donation drives.
Previous editions of the “Saturdays of Solidarity” initiative collected about 39,000 units, an average of 1,200 units per edition, according to the CNTS-CI representative.
