Opposition officials and lawyers gathered at Kamukunji Police Station to demand the release of MP John Kaguchia. The mobilisation, led in particular by MP Wanjiku Muhia, follows a court order; the text does not specify the charges against the MP.

Kenyan opposition leaders are calling for the immediate release of John Kaguchia, the MP for Mukurweini, who remains in custody at Kamukunji Police Station in Nairobi. They say police have failed to comply with a High Court order granting him police bail, according to the Kenyan daily The Standard.

John Kaguchia was arrested on Monday over alleged offences related to electoral offences and incitement. His lawyers say the High Court set his police bail at 100,000 Kenyan shillings. Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia and lawyers went to the police station to demand his release. Kaguchia's lawyers are also challenging his charges.
