Two sisters, Tehilah Wambui and Angel Njeri, died from carbon monoxide poisoning in a house fire in Gachie, Kenya’s Kiambu County. Their father, Kennedy Njau, is seeking answers, saying their mother may have left them locked inside before the fire started, Tuko reports.
Two sisters, Tehilah Wambui and Angel Njeri, died in a fire at their home in Gachie, Kiambu County, Kenya. An autopsy carried out at the Nairobi mortuary concluded that they died from carbon monoxide poisoning, according to Tuko.
The children’s father, Kennedy Njau, says their mother may have locked them inside the house before leaving and is calling for an investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy. The two girls were reportedly unable to reach the balcony when the flames spread, while their three-year-old sister, who was on the balcony, was rescued by neighbours, according to Tuko.
Kennedy Njau and the children’s mother were separated and shared custody, with the girls spending weekends with their mother in particular. The father asked investigators at Kihara police station, in Kiambaa, to establish the origin of the fire and any responsibility, according to Tuko.
