The village of Bambadougou, in the Adaou sub-prefecture, was connected to the electricity grid on Saturday 31 October 2026 at an official ceremony attended by authorities and residents, the Ivorian Press Agency (AIP) reports. The project was carried out with the support of the South-Comoé Regional Council, chaired by Eugène Aka Aouélé.
Residents’ spokesperson Bamba Zié said electricity should improve pupils’ learning, support economic activities and enhance security through street lighting, according to AIP. Residents also requested the construction of a rural health centre, a local secondary school, three classrooms, a water tower and a school canteen, as well as the completion of two teachers’ homes.
Regional Prefect Ibrahima Cissé, representing the Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Energy, urged residents to protect the installations and follow safety instructions. Eugène Aka Aouélé described Bambadougou’s electrification as part of regional policy to develop social infrastructure and reduce territorial disparities, AIP reports.
