The public prosecutor at the Conakry Court of Appeal has threatened neighbourhood and sector chiefs and municipal councils with prosecution if they remain passive in the face of criminal hotspots. Instructions have been sent to prosecutors, with a possible loss of office after conviction, according to Mosaiqueguinee.com.
The public prosecutor at the Conakry Court of Appeal has warned that neighbourhood chiefs, sector chiefs and municipal councillors could face prosecution if they remain passive in the face of crime in their localities, reports Mosaiqueguinee. He said he had sent instructions to prosecutors within the court’s jurisdiction, from Kaloum to Koundara, so that they would bring proceedings against officials who failed to act.
The magistrate also warned that a criminal conviction would result in the immediate loss of the position held by the official concerned. The warning comes as part of operations to dismantle criminal strongholds in Greater Conakry.
