The Telecel Foundation organised practical robotics training for 100 pupils at the Volta School for the Deaf in Hohoe, in Ghana’s Volta Region. The workshop, delivered by the Mingo Foundation as part of Telecel Ghana’s solidarity month, introduced pupils to science, technology, engineering and mathematics, according to MyJoyOnline.
The activities aimed to develop creativity, teamwork and problem-solving. Telecel employees volunteered to guide the pupils as they completed their projects. Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, Telecel Ghana’s head of foundation, sustainability and external communications, said the initiative was intended to provide practical support for the pupils.
The school’s head, Joe Innocent Kodjo Tsameny, praised the training for enabling pupils to put into practice concepts they had studied in theory. Makafui, 13, finished her project first among her classmates. Through a sign language interpreter, she said the experience had inspired her to pursue a career in science and technology.
