Ghanaian police have arrested Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, the main suspect in the shooting deaths of two relatives in Sakumono, in the capital Accra. He had been wanted since 30 October and a 100,000-cedi reward had been announced; police reported his arrest on 1 November, according to MyJoyOnline.

Ghanaian police have arrested Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, the prime suspect in the shooting deaths of George Atubiga, 57, and his niece Irene Atubiga, 47, in Sakumono, eastern Accra. He was arrested at his hideout after a manhunt, according to an update published on Sunday 1 November by the Ghana Police Service.

Police had offered a reward of 100,000 Ghanaian cedis for credible information leading to Osei Anto’s whereabouts. Initial investigations point to a financial dispute: George Atubiga allegedly borrowed 500,000 cedis from the suspect without repaying him. Osei Anto reportedly went to the victims’ home on 30 October with Beatrice Mumuni, who has already been arrested in the case, before the dispute escalated into a shooting, according to police.

The arrest follows the discovery of the two relatives with serious gunshot wounds at their residence on 30 October. They died in hospital, while the Baatsona divisional command is leading the investigation into the debt dispute that preceded the killings in Accra.
