A Syrian national was arrested at Beirut airport with about 40 kilogrammes of suspected cocaine transported from Accra, according to Ghana’s Narcotics Control Commission. The joint operation by Ghanaian and Lebanese authorities, conducted on 31 October 2026, also aims to identify the suspect’s accomplices and dismantle the network, The Ghana Report says.
Lebanese authorities arrested a Syrian national at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut who was suspected of trying to bring about 40 kilogrammes of suspected cocaine from Ghana into the country. The arrest took place on Saturday 31 October, after he arrived from Accra, according to Ghana’s Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).
The suspected drugs were concealed in two pieces of luggage. The controlled delivery operation was jointly conducted by Ghanaian and Lebanese anti-narcotics services, NACOC said in a statement published on 1 November. It aimed to identify those involved in both countries and gather intelligence on the network linked to the shipment.
NACOC said it was working to identify and arrest the suspected accomplices in Ghana in order to dismantle the criminal network behind the shipment. The commission also highlighted the role of cross-border cooperation and intelligence-sharing in the fight against international drug trafficking.
