The Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone plans a thermal power plant of more than 225 megawatts and solar facilities totalling 300 megawatts, while a 30-kilometre gas pipeline has been completed. The first solar plant is due to be launched within the next eighteen months, according to SIPI Benin Director General Letondji Beheton, quoted on the sidelines of an investment forum.

The Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone (GDIZ) in Benin plans more than 525 megawatts of electricity capacity, including over 225 megawatts of thermal power and 300 megawatts of solar power. The management of the Society for Investment and Promotion of Industry (SIPI Benin), which runs the site, presented the projects on 21 October 2026, according to Beninwebtv.

SIPI Benin Director General Letondji Beheton said a 30-kilometre gas pipeline linking the zone to Maria-Gléta had been completed. It is to supply the future thermal power plant. For solar power, construction of a first plant is due to begin within eighteen months of the announcement, while photovoltaic panels are also being considered for the roofs of warehouses and industrial buildings.

These capacities are intended to support the development of GDIZ production units, particularly in cotton, soybean and cashew processing. Letondji Beheton also mentioned the possibility of feeding surplus electricity into the national grid.
