Édouard Philippe rejected on television a proposal by Gabriel Attal to hold a primary for the right and centre before the end of January, preferring a gathering whose arrangements would be discussed in February. The Horizons candidate also maintained his link between the looting on 17 October and the presence of young people from immigrant backgrounds, according to his TF1 interview.

Édouard Philippe, the Horizons candidate in France’s 2027 presidential election, rejected Gabriel Attal’s proposal for a primary of the right and centre on 1 November. “I don’t think this primary will take place,” he said on TF1, the French television channel, calling it “a primary of division and confusion”.
