Schools will reopen on Monday in North Kivu despite the Ebola outbreak and an incursion by the Allied Democratic Forces in the Mabalako health zone. Prisca Luanda Kamala also called on public employees to comply with the minimum service introduced to limit the spread of the virus, according to Beto.
Authorities in North Kivu are maintaining the school reopening scheduled for Monday despite the health situation linked to the Ebola outbreak and the incursion by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the Mabalako health zone. The decision was announced after a provincial coordination meeting on the Ebola response, according to Beto.
The emergency meeting brought together health workers, sector partners and education stakeholders at the provisional North Kivu governorate. Prisca Luanda Kamala also asked state employees and civil servants to comply with the measure introducing a minimum service in order to limit the spread of the virus, Beto reports.
The ADF incursion comes as the population of North Kivu faces the Ebola outbreak. The Mabalako health zone is located in a region already affected by violence by the armed group, which had notably caused several dozen deaths in an attack reported on 7 November.
