The National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of the Congo declared admissible the 2027 draft budget, balanced at 56.930 billion Congolese francs, nearly 12% more than the 2026 revised budget. The Ecofin committee has 20 days to examine it before it returns to a plenary session, reports Actualite.cd.

The National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of the Congo declared admissible on Friday 30 October 2026 the 2027 draft budget, valued at 56.930 billion Congolese francs, according to Actualité.cd. The vote followed two days of debate and responses from Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka to MPs.

The draft, presented with a balance between revenue and expenditure, is up nearly 12% compared with the 2026 revised budget. It has now been referred to the National Assembly’s Ecofin committee, which is responsible for examining it in detail and making any amendments before it returns to a plenary session for adoption.

The president of the National Assembly, Aimé Boji Sangara, gave the committee a deadline running from 2 to 21 November 2026 to submit its report. He asked it to draw up a timetable that also takes into account its examination of the draft law on the implementation of the 2025 budget, for which the committee has seven days.

The vote came after the presentation on 29 October of the 2027 budget of $24.8 billion. Criticism of its alignment with its objectives was also voiced on 30 October by MP Geneviève Inagosi.
