National MP Geneviève Inagosi believes that the appropriations in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s 2027 draft budget do not match the objectives announced by the government. During the budget debate on 28 October, she notably criticised funding that she considers unlikely to improve people’s lives in concrete terms, according to Desk Eco.

Congolese MP Geneviève Inagosi believes that the Democratic Republic of Congo’s 2027 draft budget does not sufficiently align funding with the objectives announced by the government. She denounced on Thursday 28 October, during a debate in the National Assembly, funding for actions without a tangible human impact, according to Desk Eco.

Inagosi, elected in Wamba in Haut-Uele province, notably criticised performance indicators that she said were barely visible to the population. She called for the objectives set out in the budget presentation document to correspond more closely to the allocations planned. MP Adèle Kayinda also called for budget spending to produce concrete results for the benefit of residents.

The government of Prime Minister Judith Suminwa presented a $24.8 billion 2027 draft budget, which forecasts inflation of 6.4%.
