Dozo hunters clash with Jnim around Sounga in Mali

Traditional dozo hunters clashed last week with al-Qaeda-linked Jnim jihadists around Sounga, near Djenné in Mali's Mopti region. The village rejects their rule, while the Malian army is absent from the area, RFI reports.
Clashes took place last week between Jnim jihadists, linked to al-Qaeda, and traditional dozo hunters around Sounga, in the commune of Mougna, near Djenné, in the Mopti region, RFI reports. The dozos are trying to protect residents while the Malian army is not present in the area.
Sounga refuses to submit to Jnim, unlike neighbouring villages that have accepted the jihadist group's domination, according to RFI. This resistance has led to violent fighting around the village.
The clashes follow the Malian army's strike on three terrorist positions, announced on 24 October, and come amid fighting between rival jihadist groups, which killed several hundred people in Gonadaouri, according to an announcement on 16 October.
