Djiboutian Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed invited Chinese companies to invest in modernising ports, building industrial parks, and developing tourism and culture. He was speaking in a pre-recorded address for the 2026 China-Africa Economic, Trade and Cultural Forum, according to the Djibouti News Agency (ADI).
The forum is due to take place on 7 November in Jinhua, in China’s Zhejiang province. Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed described port logistics and commercial services as pillars of Djibouti’s economy, and highlighted the country’s position at the entrance to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, on sea routes linking Asia, Africa and Europe.
The prime minister cited the Addis Ababa–Djibouti railway, the Doraleh Multipurpose Port and the Djibouti International Free Trade Zone among the achievements of cooperation with China. He also mentioned Chinese medical teams, social housing and Tadjourah Hospital.
The invitation comes amid closer ties marked by the elevation of bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2024, according to the prime minister. It follows a meeting in Beijing a few days earlier between Djibouti’s foreign minister and Wang Yi, China’s foreign minister.
