Djibouti’s Labour Minister, Yonis Ali Guedi, brought together trade unions, employers’ representatives and CNED on 26 October to review progress on the new Labour Code, according to the Djibouti Information Agency (ADI). He invited the social partners to submit their observations on the draft so that workers’ and employers’ concerns could be incorporated.

A workshop is scheduled from 8 to 11 November to deepen discussions and prepare the submission of the text to CONTESS, which is responsible for reviewing and validating it, ADI reports.

The ministry is also working on reforming the legislation governing civil servants and drawing up a new collective agreement. Guedi presented social dialogue as the framework for these projects.

The preparation of the code follows the launch of work on the 2027–2037 national employment policy, announced on 13 October.
